The locomotive is an AMTRAK SDP-40F in the original paint scheme.  It was kit-based in 1975 from a Athearn FP-45 with guidance from a Model Railroader article - repositioning the rear fans to reflect a 16 cylinder SD40-2 prime mover, modifying the front porch, adding lights, grab irons, door rails, plow pilot, and installing appropriate steam generator parts.

The cars are a 30-year old fluted Santa Fe Con-Cor diner, Bachman Super Domes, and a recent vintage Kato B&O office car.  With the exception of the Kato unit, I had painted, detailed, and decaled the other cars. Like other items involved in multiple moves over the years, there is a horn and mu hoses in the box yet to be found and re-applied to the locomotive.
