All braces have been installed for the hidden storage tracks and now the simultaneous tasks of plywood, extruded foam, and track is under way.  The braces themselves are simple 1 x 3  scrap lumber "L" brackets attached to the upper deck framing.  Each bracket has 2 verticals connected by a horizontal piece on which the staging plywood will rest.

The staging modules are 6-inches wide allowing for three tracks on 2-inch center lines. The module is 1/2-inch plywood capped with 1-inch extruded foam. The ply wood has 2 full length 2 x 2 stringers attached to the underside for strength and stability.  I used this process in the original construction including two instances where the pieces were 72-inches long.  No problems.

The three storage/staging tracks are code 100 NS. Each track will yield about 60 feet of train storage.  The working space is tight and in retrospect, this should have done 12 months ago before the top deck plywood was installed.  Live and learn.  What the heck?  I am not using roadbed on this hidden trackage.  I transitioned the height from Westside foam to extruded foam when I switched from code 83 to 100 just past the mainline turnout.

I am laying the track and turnouts as i go before anchoring the track with caulk dabbed between the ties.  There are also track nails used to hold the position before caulk is applied.
