The track for the hidden staging is being preassembled and soldered into 12 foot sections with bus drops attached  to the track joiners.  The assembled units are positioned to the road bed and aligned with center line marks.  I have also rev-visited the transition area and added power feeds. At this point, the track and turnouts are only pinned in position.  When fully installed and checked,  silicone caulk will be applied sparingly as an anchor.  and the upper level bus wires will be secured out of the way.

I am using a heated foam cutter to add wire pathways under the track.  I am not concerned with the aesthetics as this area is not hidden from view.  Function only counts here.

Shown below is the outlet end of a Shinohara code 100, #8 turnout.  It is not a new style DCC friendly version so the diverging rails have to be isolated to preclude shorts when the switch is open to direct cars off the through line. The insulated joiners are only half right,  I mistakenly put both on the diverging section.  The outside joiner has to be moved to the inside rail of the main through track.  DOH!.  Which means the power leads have to be repositioned. Etc., etc.
