Time to start softening this area with vegetation, ballast, and ground covers.  The ballast and ground covers are applied with the typical white glue solution with the exception I am using Titebond III as it is water proof after curing.  It works as we had rain and small hail yesterday and nothing washed away.

These evergreens range in size from .75" to 2".  The shorter ones are used at the top of the mountain and the taller ones further down.  This is forced perspective - a visual technique to give the illusion of height and distance.  WHile it doesn't translate too well via a 2-dimensional photo, it is not too bad in real life.

The leaning trees will be glued into proper position.
