VINTAGE - mid70s St Louis, Kansas City, Huntington, WV

These photos are from when we lived in St Charles, MO and I was employed by the Amcar Division of ACF Industries (formerly American Car and Foundry).  The division headquarters for both Amcar (manufacturing and sales to railroad customers) and Shippers Car Line (leasing and sales to non-railroad companies) were located in the former passenger car plant in St Charles.

The St. Louis, MO plant made box cars, flat cars, TOFC hitches and coal gons.  The MOPAC line ran through the plant (how convenient of them) as well as the trackage rights for local movements granted to Manufacturers Railway (owned by Anheuser-Busch).  Bud-Wise-Er to quote some famous amphibians.

The Santa Fe, CNW, MKT, Frisco photos came from Kansas City and the ATSF complex in Argentine, KS.  The Chessie System photos were taken in Huntington, WV and nearby Ashland, KY area.
